Call for Presentations

‘Data Platforms: Transforming the Future of Data Management?’

We invite you to nominate presenters and presentations for the Society for Petroleum Data Managers’ 2021 Event on the theme: ‘Data Platforms: Transforming the Future of Data Management?’, to be held fully online from 22nd – 24th June 2021.

This online event is intended to be accessible to Society members around the world (and eventually, via the Society’s YouTube channel, the global data community), and dive into the detail of a topical theme in the Data Management community – the nature of, and consequences for Data Management and for data managers in the increasing adoption of data platforms in the energy industry.

CLICK Here to access the form. Last date for sending a submission is 7th. May 2021.

We invite you to propose topics of interest, nominate presenters you would like to hear from, or if you wish, to complete our speaker form [link] and nominate yourself for consideration as a presenter.

Topics for presentations might include:

  • Data as a process twin – management of increasingly autonomous data
  • Towards standardised processes and tooling for data ingestion, rationalisation, and clean-up
  • How do you govern data in a data platform / lake?
  • Data skills and data platforms – what do today’s data managers need to learn?
  • Auditability of unstructured and structured data – legal and practical aspects
  • Establishing National Data Platforms – including the changing role of the NDR
  • Contextualisation of unstructured and structured data for value
  • Data platforms as data marketplaces – moving to data-as-a-service?
  • Government digital ambitions, data democratisation, open data, and national digital oilfield infrastructure, including National Data Repositories
  • Designing data platforms for data synergies – supporting new energies, CCUS, etc.

The Call for Papers closes on Friday 7th May 2021.

We encourage presentations that educate, inform, engage with and interact with the audience, stimulating dialogue and debate in the data community. Please note, however, that all presentations must be of a non-commercial nature.
