Nomination of Candidates for the Society's Board (Process closed)

The Society of Petroleum Data Managers is proud to open nominations for election to its Board of Directors for the period 2019 - 2020. This is an important election; the Board is instrumental to the focus and activities of the Society!

Nomination Process

As a member you are invited to submit nominations for election to the Board of Directors by the deadline of July 15th, 2019. You may nominate yourselves or others (in which case, permission from the nominee must be obtained).

Election Process

The Nomination Committee will review the nominations made and then recommend a new board composition to the Society. The recommendation will be published on the Society website in early August. Members then have one week in which to propose changes if they wish. The Nomination Committee will submit their final recommended board composition to the Extraordinary General Meeting to be held on September 18th.

Board Composition (from the Society Statutes)

  • The Board shall consist of four to eight Directors and two elected Deputy Directors.
    • For a two-year period the founders CDA and ECIM will appoint one director each.
  • The Directors shall be elected for a term of two years at the time, and for a maximum of 3 consecutive terms.
  • Half of the Directors and one Deputy Director shall at the first election be elected for a term of 1 year to achieve staggered appointments.
  • Only members who have paid full membership fee can be elected and serve as a board member.

Administrative procedures and guidelines for the Nomination Committee

  • The Nomination Committee shall operate in accordance with common accepted principles and within the statutes of the Society.
  • In assessing the qualifications of prospective Directors, consider, in addition to any criteria set forth above, each prospective Director's personal and professional integrity, experience, skills, ability and willingness to devote the time and effort necessary to be an effective Director, and commitment to acting in the best interests for the members of the society.
  • Consideration shall also be given such that the Board will have an appropriate diversity of backgrounds, skills, age, gender, industry, and geographic distribution.
  • While the Nomination Committee and the Board treat all discussions on individuals as confidential, the identity, biography and candidate statement of proposed board members will be made public.
  • The Nomination Committee cannot propose themselves as board members.
