Klaus Eder - Geoscience Business Owner

Klaus is currently working in Schlumberger as Geoscience Business Owner, based in Austria. Klaus has been working in the industry for 20 years in various technical roles in geophysics & geology in different countries. Klaus holds an M.Eng in Applied Geoscience from the University of Leoben, Austria.

Sun Maria Lehmann - Leading Engineer within Enterprise Data Management, Equinor

Sun is working in Equinor as an Leading Engineer within Enterprise Data Management part of Enterprise Digital. She holds 3 years of Data Management experience from the Norwegian Hydrographic office and 7 years drilling services experience prior to Data Management positions for Statoil since 2008 and includes advisory positions since 2011. She has been a member in the Blue Book Work Group and Diskos Well Committee, OSDU Data Definitions Subcommittee and currently holds a position as a program committee Chair in ECIM Conference and as member in the ODA-Nettverk Trondheim board (for women in tech). In Enterprise DM the focus is now shifted to the whole company and currently Sun works within Domain Driven Design, Data Mesh Architecture, Design Thinking and Human Centric Design applied for Data Products. Sun holds an M.Sc in Petroleum GeoScience from NTNU in 1998.

Chris Stevens - CGG Smart Data Solutions

Chris graduated from Leicester University in Geology with Geophysics. He started his career with DPTS in data processing well over 30 years ago, before moving to Western Geophysical which included a three-and-a-half-year stint in South America. He joined Geotrace when they started in the UK and then Spectrum in a variety of technical sales and business development roles. He joined CGG’s data management business (Smart Data Solutions) in 2019 in their commercial team, where he is actively involved in digitalization projects. Chris recently completed the University of Edinburgh’s course on Climate Change: Carbon Capture and Storage.

Lars Gåseby - Technical Data Management Advisor, Shell

Lars is working in Shell as Technical Data Management Advisor in Shells global technology organization. He has been working in the industry since 1989 in Schlumberger, ConocoPhillips and Shell. His current focus is how to automate data management processes and supporting digitalization initiatives. He is board member of ECIM and is chairing the board for Society for Petroleum Data Managers ( He has a M.Sc. from UiO

Pierrick Gaudin - Data Architect, Total

After an M.Sc in Digital Geosciences (Nancy-2005) and 8 years in CGG first as a Geophysicist then as a Software Architect, Pierrick is now working as a Data Architect in Total to build an Enterprise Data Model. This project is based on retrieving and gathering of all the Logical Data Models involved in the Company and consolidating them in a unified vision. Acting as a gateway between Business and IT, and faced with firmly entrenched silos, he contributed to set up, and now leads, a cross-entities team that aims to set up and implement the Data Governance Program.

Mark Rae - Global Discipline Lead for Technical Information and Data

Mark works in Shell as the Integration and Seismic Data Manager and also acts as the Global Discipline Lead for Technical Information and Data. He has 20 years of experience in petroleum data management, and since joining Shell has held a variety of roles covering most of the data spectrum. Most recently, Mark had a very enjoyable posting to Brunei Shell Petroleum where he developed local petroleum data management capability and implemented a sustainable data management organisation. He is currently focused in leading a strategic global program to improve data management, tools and processes for Shell Exploration. Mark holds a BSc degree in Geology and Petroleum Geology from the University of Aberdeen.

Jane Hodson - Information & Samples Lead, Harbor Energy

Jane is a highly experienced Subsurface Technology and Data Management Subject Matter Expert with over 30+ years in the industry. Although she started in the Merchant Navy (as a Radio Officer) a complete change in her career found her transferring to the oil industry in 1984 with BP in the Petroleum Engineering Department and so began her indoctrination into subsurface data management. Initially in BP then onto CNR, Centrica, Premier Oil and now Harbor Energy. She is currently sitting on the NDR Advisory Committee and also mentoring a new generation of petroleum data managers.

Kerry Blinston - VP Smart Data Solutions, CGG

Kerry holds a degree in Geological Sciences from Leeds University and a masters in Petroleum Geology from the University of Aberdeen. He commenced his career as a sedimentologist working for Robertson Research. Advancing into various business development and managerial roles Kerry now manages CGG’s global data management business line as VP Smart Data Solutions, having joined the data management group in 2007. As an active member of the international petroleum data management community he has been part of the organising committee for the NDR conference, sits on the advisory group for the RGU Graduate Certificate in Petroleum Data Management is currently co-leading the Data Security, Entitlements and Obligations team for Open Subsurface Data Universe.

Waclaw ( Wally) Jakubowicz - Managing Director, Hampton Data Services

Wally has spent over 40 yrs in the Oil and Gas industry after graduating in 1979.

He initially worked for Schlumberger as a Wireline Field Engineer, Geophysicist and Petrophysicist, followed by a career as an independent consultant. He has worked for many clients around the world. Parallel to his subsurface data interpretation career, he has also spent 30 yrs involved in E&P subsurface data & information management. This was largely driven out of the frustration of having to constantly start interpretations with poor quality, incomplete and unvalidated data of unknown provenance and then struggling to find the necessary supporting critical data necessary for an optimal interpretation.

Wally now manages Hampton Data Services, that is developing efficient data discovery applications and E&P clean up workfows as part of its service. This has involved the use of ML, BI rules, Neural networks to create an Automated Virtual Data Management environment to index, classify and spatially link large volumes of unstructured in ponds, lakes and oceans.

Khushal Adlakha - Data Scientist, Cognite

Khushal is working as a Data Scientist solving oil and gas upstream use cases with a data-driven approach and machine learning. In Cognite, he is responsible for data science and data analytics related activities for product development, executing and presenting consulting projects to clients involving data analytics and machine learning. He holds a MSc in Petroleum Geosciences Engineering from University of Stavanger(2016-2018), Norway and Bachelor's in Petroleum Geosciences Engineering from UPES (2010-2014), India. Prior to completing his Master’s, he worked as an Associate Consultant in the Energy and Natural Utilities Department for Wipro Technologies, in India.

George Rorie - Chief Data Officer - Subsurface and Wells, Shell

George holds a BSc Information Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, and has over 30 years of experience in the Upstream Energy Industry in a wide variety of IT and Technical Data Management roles in Europe and Australia. He is presently Shell’s Chief Data Officer covering Subsurface, Wells and Technology. He was formerly a member of the Common Data Access Council, and a board member for 5 years.

  • Worked in Europe, Africa and Middle East and moved to Norway in 1997

Daniel Brown - Chairman of the Society Board

Daniel joined Common Data Access Limited (CDA) in 2014, working with UK Licensees and with the Oil and Gas Authority to implement the new UK legal regime for the retention, reporting, and disclosure of information and physical samples. This culminated in the launch of the UK NDR, operated by CDA, in March 2019. Daniel has been working in data and information since 1998, and in oil and gas since 2004.
