Terms and Conditions of Membership of the SPDM

All SPDM members agree to the following terms upon registration.

1. General

1.1. SPDM reserves the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to make changes to the Membership Terms and Conditions and to the services and products offered by the SPDM.

1.2. Membership of SPDM is open to individuals with an interest in the management and stewardship of digital and physical data used throughout the energy sector.

1.3. Student membership is open to those studying for an academic qualification in data management with application to the energy sector, or in other subjects that include energy data management components.

1.4. Members shall join the SPDM as individuals, and not on behalf of an organisation.

1.5. Members agree to abide by the SPDM Code of Conduct.

1.6. Members understand and agree that the SDPM may send the Member administrative messages in connection with the SPDM and that the Member will not be able to opt out of receiving those communications.

1.7. Members are not permitted to use their Membership of the SPDM or the SPDM logo or name for the purposes of self-promotion on any of their organisation’s materials, including websites except as may be approved in writing by the SPDM.

1.8. Members agree to provide accurate and complete information at registration and agree not to: (1) register on behalf of another person; or (2) register under the name of another person or under a fictional name or alias.

1.9. SPDM may contact the member by email regarding the services provided by the Society as a part of their membership.

2. Rights of Membership

2.1. Members of the SPDM are entitled to: discounted delegate fees for SPDM events as and when available; to access membership areas of the SPDM website; and to newsletters, online resources and networking tools, and other products and services that are made available to Members by the SPDM from time to time.

2.2. Members are classified as either: (1) a Full Member of the SPDM; or (2) as a Student Member (where they meet qualifying criteria); or (3) as may otherwise be determined from time to time at a general meeting of the SPDM.

2.3. Except in the case of Student Members as noted below, a Member in good standing is eligible to propose or second other Members for election to the Society’s Board of Directors, to stand for election themselves and be elected for any of the SPDM’s offices.

2.4. Student Members are not eligible to vote at the General Meetings of the SPDM, to stand for election or to hold office in the SPDM.

2.5. Any Member in good standing may be invited to sit on, and vote in, any of the committees or other member groups approved by the SPDM Board.

3. Membership Fees

3.1. The SPDM membership year runs for a calendar year from the date on which the member’s membership came into effect. This is an annual subscription with automatic renewal, which may be cancelled at any time by the member in their account.

3.2. A new Member’s membership shall come into effect from the date: (1) registration is completed; and (2) the applicable fees have been received by the SPDM, whichever is the later.

3.3. The amount of the annual subscription is decided by the Board and shall be as advertised on the SPDM website from time to time.

3.4. All membership dues must be up to date before a Member can register for any events for a discounted fee.

4. Privacy Policy

The SPDM’s Privacy Policy is available on the website.

5. Termination of Membership

5.1. Members who do not pay the membership fee or in any other manner materially breach the Code of Conduct or Articles of Association, or any decisions made pursuant to the Articles, may be excluded from the Society by decision of the Board.

5.2. A Member may cancel his/her membership at any time by notifying the SPDM in writing.

6. Notices

6.1. Notices given by Members to the SPDM shall be sent to post@societypdm.com. Notices to Members shall be sent to their current registered email address.
